Mac OS X Remote Management: Connect to another Mac in different network/subnet via vnc

Two Macs, Mac1 and Mac2, are on different subnet/network, to manage Mac1 remotely from Mac2:
  1. on Mac1, System Preferences -> Sharing, then enable Remote Management
  2. on Mac2, open Finder, Go -> Connect to server... (or cmd+k), type
    vnc://mac1.example.com
    or use the ip address of Mac1
    vnc://172.30.10.118
    click Connect button.

Note:

  • The approach above works on Leopard(10.5)+
